Weighted Average Mean (WAM) calculator
The weighted average mean (WAM) calculator has been developed to provide staff with a simple tool for assessing applications. The WAM can be used to gain an average of an applicant results using their grades and unit credit value. It enables staff to take into account the weighting of different units at institutions across world in relation to Monash University units.
Important information for using the WAM
- The WAM can only be used for applicant transcripts that provide results with a numerical value out of 100.
- If the transcript does not provide information on the weighting of units undertaken and you cannot locate this information, assume that the unit weighting is 1.

- Click on the ‘Calculate’ to receive your weighted average mean.
