Secondment of staff to other institutions
Secondment arrangements between Monash and other institution/organisations may be organised to enhance industry collaboration.
Staff may be seconded to other institutions in approved cases for periods of up to three years, however shorter secondments, for example a period of three months are not discouraged. The following conditions will apply:
Approval of applications for secondment will be at the discretion of the dean/divisional director upon receipt of a written proposal from the staff member supported by the relevant head of department/head of administrative unit
The established position of the staff member shall not be filled by a permanent appointment during the period of absence but the funds provided for the position may be used for a temporary replacement.
The receiving institution will pay the salary, travel and other costs of the seconded member.
The staff member shall remain a member of a superannuation scheme of Monash University and continue to pay normal contributions. The receiving institution will pay the university contribution.
The question whether the seconded service shall count as service at Monash University for the purposes of outside studies program and long service leave shall be decided at the time of secondment.
Salary increments apply if not at top of scale.
Not less than one year before the end of the period of secondment, the university shall be informed whether the staff member intends to return at the end of the period. |
