Selection

Selection is the identification of applicants with the qualifications, experience, skills, knowledge and other attributes that are required to perform a role.

The following guidelines are designed to ensure that appointments are made on merit, that equal opportunity is given for all applicants to present their credentials and that selection committees only assess relative suitability against the selection criteria for the position.

Selection consists of the following steps:

  1. Equal opportunity in the selection process
  2. Receipt of applications
  3. Short-listing candidates
  4. Advising unsuccessful candidates (not short listed)
  5. Conduct interviews
  6. Contact referees
  7. Making the decision
