Parent policy

Conduct and Compliance Policy

Preamble

The purpose of this procedure is to provide information to those staff members seeking to have subscriptions to associations, technical bodies and journals paid for by the University.

Procedure

It is expected that staff will pay for their own personal subscriptions to associations, technical bodies or journals. The cost of personal subscriptions to associations, technical bodies and journals may only be charged against university funds where all three of the following conditions are met:

  1. such subscriptions are a requirement of the University; and
  2. they are directly relevant to the staff member’s duties and reflected in the staff member’s approved position description; and
  3. they are authorised by the relevant head of the administrative unit.

Academic staff who have research funding may use these funds to subscribe to appropriate professional associations, technical bodies and journals, where the resource funding grant permits. Funds accumulated by University Practice Paid Outside Work may also be used for this purpose.

University staff who represent the University on company boards may have Australian Institute of Company Director (AICD) membership paid while that board membership is active.

Subscriptions in the name of a department, c/ Monash University may be charged against department funds.
