Overview
A current, accurate position description are agreed documents between supervisor and staff member. These documents are fundamental for a number of University processes, including:
- Performance management: establishing goals and objectives for individual performance plans
- Job evaluation
- Position re-classification
- Training and career development: identifying learning needs
Intended Outcomes
- An understanding of the purpose and uses of a well written position description
- Identification of the new position description format and the position classification proposal form, and knowledge of the steps involved in completing these documents
- Increased ability to write an accurate position description and position classification proposal form
Course Content
- Purposes/uses of the position description and the position classification proposal form
- Process of preparing for and writing both documents
- Writing the position description; organisational context, key result areas and responsibilities, key selection criteria, and other job related information as well as the position classification proposal form
