Overview

To master the concepts of managing a project utilising a software application to ensure a successful completion

Intended Outcomes

Participants through hands-on experience will gain the knowledge and use the functions available within Microsoft Project to effectively manage a project.

Course Content

On completion of this course participants will be able to: 

  • start Project and work with it's key screen features
  • work with the Project tutorials and help system
  • create a new project file
  • understand elements of project management theory
  • create tasks in a project
  • enter task durations
  • create relationships between tasks
  • create a pool of resources for a project
  • understand Project 2003 resource assignment
  • assign resources to tasks
  • print data from Project 2003
  • gain an overview of dealing with resource over-allocations
  • learn how to track down resource over-allocations
  • learn how to change work effort to fix over-allocations
  • gain an overview of assigning material resources
  • gain an excellent understanding of how to enter the various cost types into a project
  • gain an overview of constraints and deadlines
  • learn how to adjust the schedule to meet constraints
