Equity and Diversity CentreThe Equity and Diversity Centre (EDC) provides a range of training opportunities to support an environment for all students and staff, that is diverse and inclusive, fair and equitable, and free from all forms of discrimination and harassment. Most training sessions can be tailored to suit the needs of individual work units. eSolutionseSolutions co-ordinates specialist IT training courses with external vendors for IT support staff. In-house training programs are also available for staff who use or support Monash systems such as Remedy and Addhost. Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (OHSE)Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (OHSE) offers a range of occupational health and safety courses to all staff, students and the wider Monash community. These courses are designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to identify and control common hazards and health and safety issues that they may be exposed to during their work, research or study at Monash. OHSE courses can also be tailored to meet the individual needs of departments in relation to the specific types of health and safety issues that they face. Further information on the safety induction is available at: http://www.adm.monash.edu.au/ohse/training/safety-induction.html Research ServicesThe University's Research Services Division provides the central administrative support for research and training at the University, and serves academics, research students, faculty and department administrative staff across all campuses. The Division is comprised of two major branches: The Research Office and the Monash Research Graduate School. Research OfficeThe Research Office provides seminars and workshops on applying for research grants and fellowships, laboratory animal care and use, writing grants and ethics applications, software training for the annual research publications and data collection. Support is also offered to academic staff on an individual basis through the provision of information about which grants to apply for, handling communications with granting bodies and all administrative procedures relating to grants, checking applications to ensure compliance with guidelines, and the provision of information on matters related to ethics. In addition, the branch contributes to departmental or faculty seminars and, on request, provides workshops targeted to specific needs. Workshop topics include intellectual property issues, thesis writing and examination process, preparing papers for publication, tutoring techniques, oral presentations, computer training and statistics. While these workshops are arranged specifically with postgraduate students in mind, many will also be of interest to academic staff, particularly those who supervise doctoral and masters candidates. Members of the school are also happy to speak to groups of academic staff on administration matters relating to doctoral candidature and scholarship support.
