Events and activities

Step out for better health

The 10,000 steps challenge is now complete but that doesn't mean you need to stop counting! See below for how you can continue to achieve your 10,000 steps.

Wellbeing for you and the environment

There are lots of fabulous reasons to start walking - you'll feel more energised, increase your social networks and feel more connected to your community.  There are also fantastic benefits for the environment.  Walking is low cost, easy to start and you'll help the environment by reducing your carbon footprint.

Did you know?

Driving omits 200grams of Co2 per Kilometre. (www.racv.com.au ) and 50 grams of Co2 is 1 Black Balloon.(www.saveenergy.vic.gov.au )

If a team of 8, took 10,000 steps per day over 5 weeks instead of driving it would save approximately 8960 Black Balloons (32 baloons x35 days x 8 people)

A 0-5k Journey is quicker by bike than car. You will arrive faster, healthier, happier and nearer to your 10,000 steps!

Wellbeing at work

Take the stairs instead of the elevator, get off the train or bus one stop early and walk the rest of the way.  Get out at lunchtime and enjoy the beautiful surroundings around your campus.  You can find more information about weekly campus walks and walking maps for your campus here.

Wellbeing for your family

In Victoria we're spoilt for choice when it comes to fabulous places to go walking.  Get out and about with your family on the weekend and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Victoria.

The Visit Victoria website has a variety of walking maps for around Melbourne and Victoria including the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges, Mornington Peninsula, Daylesford and Philip Island.   Explore Greater Melbourne and Victoria like a visitor and you'll be surprised what you learn about our city and surrounds.
