Updates on Recruitment Advertising

Whilst the Transforming Recruitment at Monash (TR@M) project is focusing on longer term improvements to recruitment, including the implementation of an e-Recruitment system in 2010, the HR Division is continuing to introduce interim improvements when possible.

Here are some of the recent developments:

Faster, streamlined advertising processes

Weekly deadlines for recruitment advertising requests have been removed, speeding the process for placing advertisements.  The Request to Advertise form may now be forwarded to HR Operations by no later than 5pm daily (Monday to Friday) for next day processing (refer to current process map).  Your request will normally be processed the following business day, provided that all required recruitment advertising documents are correctly completed and compliant with approval requirements; the advertisement is not subject to additional policy requirements (e.g. redeployment) or is delayed for any unforeseen reason.

Online advertisements will normally be active and effective within three (3) business days after the request has been processed, provided that there are no redeployment or Advancing Indigenous Employment (AIE) considerations.

All print media deadlines and publications dates remain unchanged.

New and improved Request to Advertise Form

The new and improved Request to Advertise form is now available for use.  It is an electronic SMART form that will streamline completion of the form.  A key feature of the new form is the convenient drop down lists containing pre-populated and defined fields for easy selection.

Current Advertising Restrictions

Current advertising restrictions apply to professional positions (continuing and fixed term of greater than 12 months) including HEW 8, 9 and 10A – 10D in both faculty and non-faculty areas.  Please refer to 2.3 Current Advertising Restrictions of the Recruitment Advertising Procedures to view the details.

Relaxing the advertising requirements when using a search firm

Where a search firm is engaged for a senior position (HEW 10 and above, Level D, E and senior academic appointments), the recommended advertising strategy of the search firm may be accepted.

Monash Video on SEEK

All Monash University job advertisements through SEEK now contain a 30 second promotional video featuring our ‘Go Boldly’ branding campaign. View a current Monash University advertisement to see how this addition helps to promote the Monash brand

Profile of Job Boards

The four frequently used online job boards are profiled below, SEEK, MyCareer, CareerOne and Unijobs. These promotional descriptions outline the unique benefits of utilising each job board and detail the availability of ‘premium’ options for those roles you may be finding difficult to fill.

Another exciting new online job board that has recently partnered with Monash University is Careers on Campus, an online job board affiliate of magazine ‘Campus Review’.
