Selection of current Year 12 applicantsPlease note that meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee entry to a course as there may be fewer places available in a course than the number of applications received. Information regarding the basis for selection for individual courses is listed in the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre VTAC Guide and Monash Course Finder. The Selection process takes into account: The Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Rank (ENTER)
Middle BandIn many courses, approximately 20% of offers for places are made using middle band criteria which give applicants bonus points towards their ENTER. Applicants in the 'middle band' range are looked at individually on the basis of published middle band selection information for example:
Applicants meeting one or more of these criteria will be awarded bonus points and re-ranked to a higher level on the list of applicants. Note: The middle banding process means that some applicants with lower ENTER scores will be selected ahead of students with marginally higher scores. Other course requirementsSelection Officers will also look at applicants' performance/information in other application requirements for individual courses (where appropriate). This may include supplementary information forms, folios, interviews, auditions and special admissions tests. For information on such course requirements, see course information in the VTAC Guide and Monash Course Finder.Assessing VTAC Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) and Special Year 12 Consideration application formsMonash University will take into account the information provided on the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Scheme (VTAC) SEAS Access and Equity and Year 11/12 Special Consideration application forms when ranking current Year 12 applicants for selection. When assessing VTAC SEAS and Year 11/12 Special Consideration applications, selection officers will consider applicants' VCE study scores and whether the application provides evidence that the scores achieved are not a reliable guide to the applicant's potential for success in the course, due to circumstances experienced during Year 12. If this is the case, a moderate adjustment to ranking may result. The University reserves the right to request applicants to supply additional information which may be relevant to their application, including documentation of previous academic records or medical certificates in the case of special consideration applications on grounds of illness. |
